Job portals facing the heat of slowing recruitments are finding new tools and ways to tide over the economic slump, using both technology and alternative methods.
For instance, Naukri.com has enabled job-seekers to search for positions easily by building in a search function into Internet messenger applications like Google’s Gtalk. Applicants can also apply for jobs by simply text-messaging to a short-code the registration number of their resumes posted online.
The company has also launched a new site FirstNaukri.com to target recruiters eyeing entry-level jobseekers. “Campus hiring may be down now but we have launched this portal with a long term perspective,” Hitesh Oberoi, chief operating officer, Info Edge, which owns Naukri.com told Hindustan Times.
Consim Info-owned Clickjobs.com has introduced a pay-per contact revenue model where a headhunter pays only when he contacts a jobseeker against a subscription-based model where one has to pay upfront. “Hiring has slowed down overall and even recruitment budgets have reduced. We have launched this globally patented payment model and expect more employers and jobseekers to visit our site now,” said Murugavel Janakiraman, founder and chief executive officer, Consim Info Pvt Ltd.
Clickjobs.com has a revenue-share model with jobseekers under which it shares with a prospect 50 per cent of the money it gets from employers when they buy a CV. It has its own mechanism to assess CVs.
Shine.com, a part of HT Media Ltd, which publishes Hindustan Times, has introduced a ‘Shine Campus’ section where jobseekers can specifically hunt for jobs in universities.
